Born and bred in Kawangware slums together with the siblings, Mrs Mary Eliaika grew up with a passion to serve the community . She trained as a deaconess at Matongo Lutheran Theological College and thereafter served as the first deaconess with Evangelical Lutheran Churches in Nairobi. As a deaconess, she was accustommed to needs of the congregation coupled with experiences of her child hood slum life and a big heart to serve MrsEliaka took the burden to find solution for the needy in the country. It was with this in mind that she found the organisation Heart To Heart to reach out and give hope to those who had given up in life. Her aim was to share the LOVE and CARE of JESUS to the populace no matter the social or economic background, James 2:15-17. She spent most of her time running HHOC. As the mother of the Heart to Heart family she holds the heart that started this journey. HEr Eperience as a child has led to her resolve to help the disadvantaged in the society. What began with just one child the organisation is reaching more than 800 children now in school courtesy of Heart to Heart, and her dream is to see more and more children getting a good education. Her desire is to see an educated community and coming from the slums education and empowerment is the door to end the vicious poverty cycle.
